The Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI) recently announced that Merton Primary School for the second year in a row has been selected as a State of Wisconsin School of Recognition Award recipient. This marks three consecutive years Merton Community School District has received a DPI award. This year, 178 schools were recognized with Merton Primary being one of eight schools in the state of Wisconsin to be selected as being BOTH High Achieving and High Progress. According to the DPI, schools recognized as "High Achieving" have demonstrated achievement gaps that are less than 3 points between student groups or show evidence of reducing gaps and have demonstrated high achievement at the school level. Schools recognized as "High Progress" fall within the top 10 percent of school experiencing growth in reading and mathematics and have achievement gaps that are less than 3 points between student groups. On May 1st, Principal Michael Budisch and other staff members will attend a ceremony at the State Capitol to be recognized.
