Family engagement liaisons are trained by the Wisconsin Statewide Parent Educator initiative (WSPEI) to support communication between the school district and families. They can support families in a number of ways including mentoring families who are new to special education, answering questions families have about how to participate in their child’s education and IEP process and sharing information and resources with families. Lauren’s parent perspective allows her to relate to fellow parents in the district.

Helping others is what drives me. I’m looking forward to supporting other Merton parents, who may have the same questions and concerns that I did as we navigated our journey. During the day, I serve as the Director of Human Resources for Circle Electric, but my most important role is advocating for my children and their education.
Our children deserve the best, and their education is so incredibly important. I know how overwhelming and uncertain it can feel when making decisions about your child’s education and future.
