TILT - Student Club

What is TILT Student Club?
A group of students with a goal to support Teachers Integrating Learning Today.  These students will be asked to support projects with their expertise they have and will learn through applying a variety of technologies and learning “Best Practices” that will ultimately improve the education at MCSD.

Sample Projects:

• Teacher Requests (fill out this form)
• Google Ninja- White, Green, Black, & Master Belts for learning Google Apps
• iPad App Support (Primary)
• Google App Navigation/Teacher Support (Grade 3+)
• Web 2.0 Support Team (ie: Kerpoof - Account Setup, Support)
• “Fix-It” Team - with guidance from the Tech Dept. (depending)
• Research Support Team
• 4C's Ideas- Futuristic Team (4C’s are collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking.)
• Emerging Technologies, currently unknown

How will it work?

• Student will communicate his/her current talents and talents s/he’d like to develop to Mrs. Wieczorek
• Student will communicate with teachers they will be “assigned” to assist
• Student will communicate with Mrs. Wieczorek regarding projects, teacher needs, and status of projects s/he will assist will or need help to assist
• Student must make sure their personal schoolwork doesn’t suffer due to TILT commitments.  Communication and collaboration will be the key to continue TILT efforts.
• Student understands he will work through Mrs. W, not independently of Tech Department and District goals

How often will students be expected to assist?
It depends upon student availability and project.  A schedule will be created to let Mrs. Wieczorek to depend upon students so projects progress at a suitable rate. We will take it project, by project and teacher, by teacher.  Adjustments will be made as needed.

How are TILT students selected?
Students are recommended by teachers and/or viewed as independent, self-directed leaders to support our TILT initiative.  Students can ask to participate, but will be put on a waiting list.  At this time, only students who have been recommended will be asked to participate by Mrs. Wieczorek.

What to do to participate:
Step 1: Communicate interest by completing the form of talents and interests.
Step 2: Watch for a shared folder to be generated in your Google Docs and messages to be sent via Email
Step 3: Actively support and communicate: who, what and how you will support TILT

Hypothetical Schedule to Support TILT (For mini-groups to have guidance for recording/video support)

Current Project:  Green Screen

Primary - iMovie Grade 2 & 3

Details: Select 2nd and 3rd grade students will gain experience videoing and creating simple movies with Green Screen technology. Mrs. W needs a group of Intermediate students to create sample videos, prepare a schedule and train Primary students who will build and lead Green Screen technology over at the Primary.

Step 1: communicate to Mrs. W when you are available - days/times to come to the Primary LMC
Step 2: take footage & import to iMovie on the Macbook (iPad Cart in Primary LMC); explore any chromebook apps that may support video editing (Magisto, WeVideo, Green Screen, etc.)  Which is easiest for a novice, young student?
Step 3: prepare sample videos, guide sheets
Step 4: work with students as able
