Scratch Lunch Bunch meets in the Common Space outside the LMC every Tuesday and Friday during lunch and recess time.
The students will be using a program called “Scratch” to learn how to animate short movies and maybe even make games!
Students will bring a charged classroom netbook, a packed cold lunch and a willingness to create.
How can students prepare? View samples in the Project Gallery on a variety of subjects-created by other kids: http://scratch.mit.edu/tags/view/education
Can students work on Scratch at home? Yes, but it can be tricky. Scratch is available if parents want to download the software for free and install it on a home machine. Students could use a pen drive to transport the file to and from school. A student could also experiment with features without saving on the beta site: http://beta.scratch.mit.edu/
How to get involved? Communicate your interest in participating in this opportunity by talking to your teacher & turning in a signed permission slip with a description telling what you hope to learn, what experience you may already have and how you may benefit from this opportunity.
