Merton Intermediate Library Builds

1. Information Fluency  - Students will build confidence and understanding throughout their Merton School experience to: Ask, Access/Acquire, Analyze, Apply, Assess information from varying resources in a variety of formats.

Students will:

• Read-- popular authors and trending series, noteworthy topics of student choice
• Research-- locate and evaluate reliable info from a variety of resources

Our Library Online Catalog, Destiny, enables students to:

• Join MyQuest to network, rate, review, & recommend books (Intermediate Students)
• Search via One Search to find educational resources with one click.  Also, revisit searches later without typing terms in again.
• Create lists of books, online resources, & websites (An easy way to create a bibliography.)
• View items checked out to you
• Access & Read eBooks

2. Solution Fluency- Students will develop the skills to become Problem Solvers and Critical Thinkers in order to: Define, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver, & Debrief. 

3. Media Fluency- Students will develop the necessary skills in Technology Operations & Concepts.

• Portable Reading (Destiny eBooks & Tumblebooks)
• Images
• Sound
• Video
• Current Trends/Events

4. Creativity & Innovation- Students will create, program and innovate educational demonstrations using a variety of software, apps and online (Web 2.0) tools. (ie: Google Apps for Education, VoiceThread, Scratch Programming, etc.)

5. Digital Citizenship- Students will become citizens of digital resource use with regards to copyright and cyber issues.

6. Global Outreach & Navigation- Students will learn to navigate the Internet safely, expanding to various parts of the globe, to learn to Communicate & Collaborate with others.
